Is 2b Tape safe?Updated a year ago

2b Tape is a medical tape that is safe for use on skin. It can be used to position chest tissue into a flatter or more masculine appearance.

Previous taping methods on the market such as duct tape are harmful and are never recommended for binding. However, with advances in technology and new adhesives that are now on the market, we are confident that 2b Tape is a safe and effective tool for binding when used as directed.

Best Practices:

  • Test for potential adhesive allergies on your skin with the provided test strip before using 2b Tape for the first time.

  • Always ensure the area you wish to tape is clean, dry, and free from lotions or oils.

  • Be careful not to pull your chest tissue or skin too far out of place, as you could damage the sensitive skin around your chest and ribs. Listen to your body and take regular breaks from binding

  • Never apply 2b Tape on skin that is broken or irritated.

  • Never wrap the tape fully around your chest or ribs.

  • Do not ingest or put the tape in or over your mouth, eyes, or nose. Keep away from children.

  • Check with your doctor if you have any medical questions or concerns before using 2b Tape

Binding is inherently risky whether you use a conventional chest binder or tape. Always use binding products following the guidelines laid out by the seller and/or your doctor.

As with any form of binding, by taking the appropriate precautions, using the right type of body-safe tape, and following the correct application and removal procedures, the risk of harm to the wearer is minimal.

As always we NEVER recommend binding with duct tape or ace bandages as the pressure can be too tight or uneven which can warp the ribs, harm your breathing ability, and potentially cause other serious health issues in the future.
