How do I apply 2b Tape?Updated 10 months ago
1) PREP
Ensure skin is clean, dry, and free from any lotions, oils, or body powders. Consider trimming or shaving body hair to minimize discomfort during the removal process. We recommend waiting for a time where you won’t feel rushed or stressed when applying 2b Tape for the first time.
2) TEST
Before applying 2b tape for the first time, use the included test strip to check for a potential allergic reaction.* Place the test strip on your underarm area below the armpit or on the side of your chest tissue. Wait 24 hours to check for any adverse reactions and to ensure compatibility with your skin.
*An allergic reaction can look or feel like hives, a rash around the area, raised or reddened skin, painful itching, or other forms of severe discomfort.
If you do have an allergic reaction, remove the tape as soon as you are safely able to with a natural or skin safe oil (baby oil, coconut, jojoba, olive, canola, vegetable, etc.) and follow our removal instructions here!
3) MEASURE AND CUT
The length of tape you’ll need is determined by chest size and desired final look. Folks with smaller chest sizes will likely need smaller strips of tape (4-6 inch sections), whereas folks with larger chest sizes may need larger strips (6-8 inch sections.)
The width of 2b Tape you need will also be determined by chest size. Wearers with larger chests may find they get better results with our 5” and 6” widths. Wearers with smaller chests might prefer to use our 3” and 5” tape to achieve the same look with a smaller area of coverage.
After determining how much tape you’ll need, cut your desired length of 2b Tape. You can use the grid pattern on the backing to assist with getting a straight cut. Each 2” section is marked with a solid line.
We recommend using fabric shears or a sharp pair of scissors for the best results.
TIP:
Users have found that cutting or rounding the corners during this step helps prevent the edges from peeling up during longer wear periods and allows the tape to more evenly distribute pressure.
4) APPLY
Peel back a portion of the backing and gently apply half of the strip to the center of the chest tissue over the nipple shield without tension. Do not stretch or pull the tape during this step! Press or rub lightly to help the tape adhere before taking the next step.
Place a hand over your chest tissue and press the area flat.* While pressing, gently pull the tape to the side of your torso, remove the latter half of the backing, and adhere to the underarm area below the armpit. Be careful not to overstretch the tape during this step and to not get any armpit hair stuck in the tape! Press or rub lightly to help the tape adhere.
You can add an additional strip of 2b Tape vertically underneath the underarm area to assist with creating a more secure fit.
*For larger chests or for those who have chest tissue that hangs lower, we recommend laying on your back to assist in positioning your chest tissue before taping. Alternatively, you can lean forward when applying the tape to assist in maneuvering the tissue.
5) SMOOTH & ADJUST
When you are happy with the positioning, smooth the tape to fully adhere it to your skin. Smooth out any wrinkles or creases as much as possible to ensure the 2b tape is secure. Add additional strips as needed to create an even smoother appearance.
